About Us

In the early 1970s, Mr. Sheikh Osman embarked on his entrepreneurial journey by opening a butchery business in Short Street, Lenasia.

This establishment continues to thrive today under the management of Farouk Osman.

Building on their success, the Osman family ventured into the hospitality industry by opening the Church Café, located at the corner of Penguin and Sparrow Streets in Ext 1, Lenasia.

The early 1980s marked a significant expansion for the family with the launch of a cosmetic wholesale business, Fomiss Wholesalers.

The name "Fomiss" is an acronym derived from the initials of the brothers and their nephew, reflecting the unity and collaborative spirit of the family:

  • Farouk
  • Osman
  • Mohamed
  • Ismail
  • Shoket
  • Shabeer
Simultaneously, the family diversified into the dry-cleaning industry, establishing a business next to their cosmetic enterprise in Grand Place, Lenasia.

Over time, as the economic landscape evolved, the Osman family strategically transitioned into the petrol industry.

Their first petrol station opened in Gemsbok Street, Lenasia, and was followed by several others across different areas.

Today, with the grace of the Almighty, the Osman family successfully operates a chain of petrol sites, continuing their legacy of entrepreneurial excellence and community service.
